While those elements do exist in anime, they are by no means indicative of the medium as a whole.

For example, the top three anime in Japan in 2015 were One-Punch Man, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Kantai Collection. However, the most popular anime abroad in 2015 was Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Naruto.
